About Me

bev  Enjoying the sun in Hilo.

I was born in the Fiftieth State, Hawaii.  Hawaii is a unique state as it is in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and is made of eight main islands.  I grew up on the Big Island in the town of Hilo.  I am one of three children.  In fact, I am the middle child.  I have an older brother, who still lives in Hawaii, and a younger sister, who lives in Michigan.

I am a product of Hawaii’s Public Educations System.  After graduating high school I went to college and studied business and economics.  After working in the business sector I grew restless and went back to college where I got my teaching certificate.  As a history buff, my teaching certification was in social studies.  I loved sharing history with seventh and eight graders.  After doing that for a while, I, again, got restless and went back to school.  This time I worked on a Master’s Degree is School Administration.  I became an elementary school principal.      Early Principal Years    This was a perfect job for me since I love watching and helping children learn.  As an educator, I loved encouraging children to read.  Reading is a passion of mine and a wonderful way to learn.

I retired in 2012 and decided that it was time to try something new.  I guess you could say the restless bug bit me again.  My husband and I love traveling, touring, and exploring national parks and new places.  So, to make traveling easier we relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2014.  Once settled, we started traveling.  We made one cross-country trip (11 states) before adopting our dog.  We made another cross-country trip with Bekah and plan to do many more.
